Described by the University of Maryland as “magnificent, deeply moving, and a model of alumni pride,” the Potomac Winds ensemble is a chamber music collective based in the Washington D.C. metro area. Performing in forces ranging from solos to large ensembles, the group participates in concerts, educational outreach events, weddings, functions, commissions, and more! Functioning as a performer, presenter, and educator since 2015, Potomac Winds actively engages in competitions, composer commissions, and artist residencies. Members of the group have performed in professional orchestras across Europe, Latin America, and North America. Individual honors include being selected as competition finalists, orchestral soloists, and young artist awards recipients.
With dynamic and diverse instrumentation, Potomac Winds is committed to promoting woodwind chamber music as a virtuosic medium through engaging performances of the highest level of artistic expression, cultivating a sense of community with audience members, and collaboratively exploring works of various time periods and genres, with a particular emphasis on the art of contemporary composers.
